Depth Psychology Café

A monthly gathering for soulful conversations

Next writing Group: April 6th from 2pm PST/4pm EST - 3pm PST/5:00pm EST.

Theme: Meeting the Golden Shadow: unveiling your potential through writing.

A unique space for thinkers, seekers, and psyche explorers to connect, reflect, and engage in meaningful discussions about the psyche and the realm of Depth Psychology.

Limited number of seats - 50 seats.

To ensure depth, intimacy, and meaningful engagement, the writing circle on the Golden Shadow will have a limited number of participants. This allows for a safe and contained space where each participant has time to explore their insights, share reflections, and receive thoughtful responses.

What Is the Golden Shadow?

Do you experience imposter syndrome in areas where you actually quite skilled?

Have others pointed out strengths in you that you tend to downplay or dismiss?

In Jungian psychology, the shadow refers to aspects of the psyche that remain unconscious—both the repressed negative traits (dark shadow) and the unacknowledged strengths, talents, and latent potential (golden shadow).

While shadow work is often associated with integrating darker impulses, the golden shadow represents the brilliance, creativity, and inner authority that individuals project onto others rather than recognizing as part of themselves. This phenomenon manifests as admiration, envy, or a sense of inadequacy in the presence of those who embody qualities we unconsciously possess but have not yet owned.

Unintegrated, the golden shadow can contribute to imposter syndrome, creative blocks, or chronic self-doubt, leading individuals to dismiss their strengths and defer their fullest self-expression. This writing circle offers a structured, depth-oriented space to explore and integrate the golden shadow, facilitating greater self-awareness, confidence, and psychological wholeness.

If we fail to integrate it, we remain trapped in a limited version of ourselves, always seeking externally what is meant to be embodied internally.

What to expect:

Community buildigng: the space will foster connection among deep psychologically minded people, passionate about Depth Psychology.

Accessible and flexible: you can join from anywhere without commitment.

Exploration of rich and relevant topics: our informal café format will allow for spontaneous conversations around pre-planned psychological topics, while also allowing flexible time for spontaneous divergences. Session will be live and not recorded.

A small suggested contribution will provide a way to sustain the space.

You will receive a pdf guide after the session to continue your own inner work to mine your golden shadow.

How the session will go:

Guided Writing Prompts – Each session introduces a carefully curated prompt designed to elicit unconscious material related to the golden shadow, allowing participants to explore where they have projected unclaimed strengths.

Free writing for 15 minutes – let your words flow freely, no judgment, no pressure.

Psychodynamic Reflection & Discussion – We will examine projections onto mentors, public figures, and personal relationships, identifying patterns of admiration, envy, or perceived inferiority that may indicate disowned potential.

A Supportive Therapeutic Framework – This writing circle serves as a reflective and exploratory space, grounded in depth psychology principles, to facilitate self-inquiry without judgment. While not a substitute for psychotherapy, it provides a structured, therapeutically informed setting for deep psychological work.
